My niece Sarah is starting college next week. She wants to become a phlebotomist or a forensic scientist. She is a swell kid, and one of my best friends. I was only 10 years old when she was born, and right away became a little mother. Everyone loved her smile and her curls. When she laughed, her eyes would crinkle right up in her face. Her shiny blond hair formed Shirley Temple ringlets when she was fresh out of the bath.
She is always loving and compassionate. She has a full sense of herself and how her behavior affects others. She is a strong, socially responsible human being who will make a difference in the world.
Sarah has a tremendous sense of humor and will laugh at herself before she will make fun of someone else. She works hard at her job, knowing that even though this is not her dream career, she is still responsible to give 100% while she is there. She worked so hard in high school, and I know she will work just as hard, if not harder, now that she is in college. She has a practicality that escapes me. She is not only a dreamer, she takes immediate action towards acheiving those dreams.
Congratulations, Sarah. I am so proud of you and I know you will do amazing things with your life.
